Full Moon Party from Koh Samui: the Dates and the Boats There and Back

The next Full Moon Party is on Tuesday 27 October 2026, on Haad Rin beach on Koh Phangan. You can go from Koh Samui without booking a night on Phangan. The 17:00 Haad Rin Queen from Big Buddha pier in Bangrak reaches Haad Rin at 18:00 for 200 THB. You come back on a party speedboat the same night or on the 09:30 boat the next morning, and you keep your hotel on Samui.
The party dates for 2026 and 2027
The dates below are the ones published by the Haad Rin Business Association, which issues the schedule each year. The party is on the night of the full moon, with one exception. In March 2026 the association resolved that a party falling on a major Buddhist holy day moves to the following night. October 2026 is one of those: the full moon and the end of Buddhist Lent are both on the 26th, so the party is on Tuesday 27 October. Some websites still list the full moon night, which is why you may see the 26th elsewhere. There is also a party every New Year's Eve, whatever the moon is doing. The association's own notice is that dates can change on a government announcement, so check with your hotel or the boat operator before you book around one.

What it costs and when it starts
Entry is 200 THB, paid in cash at the entrance to the beach on the night. Tickets are sold at the gate only, so anyone selling you one online is selling something else. The party gets going around 9pm and is permitted to run until sunrise, 6am, on Haad Rin beach at the southern tip of Koh Phangan.
Getting there from Samui
The boats you want leave from Bangrak, on the north coast next to the airport. From the middle of Chaweng it is about 5 km by road. There are three ways across. The times below are the ones on sale for the coming party dates.
1. The Haad Rin Queen, from Big Buddha pier. This is the boat that goes straight to Haad Rin pier, a walk from the party beach, so there is no taxi across Koh Phangan. It leaves Big Buddha pier in Bangrak at 10:30 and 17:00, takes an hour, and costs 200 THB. The 17:00 has you in Haad Rin at 18:00, with three hours to eat before the party starts. Seatran sells the tickets online.
2. A party speedboat, there and back in one night. On party nights speedboats run from Samui to Koh Phangan in the evening and back after the party. Seatran sells the trip in its booking system as a Full Moon Party speedboat, round trip or one way, and tour desks on Samui sell the same kind of trip with hotel pickup. Two things to settle when you book: where the boat lands, since Haad Rin puts you on the beach and Thong Sala puts you in a taxi, and what time the last boat back leaves. The return is the part that matters, because the regular boats stop by early evening and there is no scheduled boat home in the middle of the night.
3. The regular ferry to Thong Sala, then a taxi. Seatran sails from Bangrak pier to Thong Sala at 08:00, 09:30, 12:30 and 14:30 for 350 THB, a crossing of 30 to 35 minutes. Lomprayah's last sailing through Bangrak is in the late afternoon, leaving the airport at 17:00. Thong Sala is on the other side of Koh Phangan, about 10 km across the island from Haad Rin, so this way costs a taxi at each end. Take it if you want to arrive early and see the island first. The operators, piers and prices are compared in our Koh Samui ferry guide.
Getting back
Decide this before you leave Samui, not on the beach at 4am.
- The party speedboat back. Book the round trip and you have a seat home after the party. Keep the ticket and the operator's number on your phone, and know which pier on the Phangan side it leaves from.
- The Haad Rin Queen at 09:30. It leaves Haad Rin pier at 09:30 and is at Big Buddha pier at 10:30, for 200 THB. No taxi across Koh Phangan first, which after a night on the beach is worth the wait. There is a second sailing at 16:00.
- Seatran from Thong Sala. 10:30, 11:00, 16:00 and 16:45 to Bangrak for 350 THB. The same boats continue to Samui airport with the transfer included for 500, the first arriving at 12:00. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure.
- Lomprayah's 08:00 from Thong Sala. The earliest boat off the island, 350 THB, but it goes to Nathon on the west coast of Samui, about 24 km and forty minutes by road from the airport. Lomprayah asks you to check in an hour before departure.
Flying out of Samui the day after the party? The first Seatran puts you at the airport at 12:00, which works for a flight from about 13:15. For anything earlier, come back on a party speedboat that night and sleep on Samui.
Your bags
Three situations come up every month, and we handle all of them at the shop in Chaweng, 200 m from Central Samui, open 10:00 to 19:00 every day, bags from 150 THB a day.
- You check out the day of the party and fly the day after. Drop the bags with us after checkout, go to Haad Rin with a small bag, and come back on a morning boat. We open at 10:00 and the first boats reach Bangrak from 10:30, so your bags are ready when you are. Nothing sits in a hotel lobby or on a beach.
- You land on Samui on the party day. Drop the bags with us on the way from the airport, go on to Bangrak, and check in to your hotel the next day.
- You are spending a few nights on Koh Phangan and coming back to Samui. Leave the big bag with us and cross with what you need for the beach. For longer stays, lockers and rooms by the month are on the monthly lockers page.
Book with us online so the space is held, or WhatsApp us the dates.
Before you go
The advice the party's own organisers give, and it is all sensible.
- Closed sandals or trainers. There can be broken glass in the sand.
- Do not go into the sea. Alcohol and a dark sea do not mix.
- Skip the fire rope.
- Go easy on the buckets, and buy drinks from vendors that look official.
- Cash for the 200 THB entrance and for the boat home.
- Do not ride a scooter to the beach at night. If you are crossing from Samui you will not have one anyway, which is one of the advantages.
